How Does It Vape?

Considering you can’t adjust the settings, including the wattage and voltage, it vapes surprisingly well, even if you don’t have control over the power of the device.
Rest assured the Mag V8 selects the correct wattage, based on which coil you add to the TFV Mini V2 tank.

It vapes up to 70W, which is a generous amount of power and ideal for new Sub-Ohm vapers, as you don’t have the possibility to go too overboard.
Thanks to the mesh coils which have a larger surface area, and the controllable airflow which has 3 slots on the TFV Mini V2 tank, Smok have produced another mod that excels in terms of flavour, rich in density and saturation, offering a smooth vape.

The cloud game is strong too and you could even get away with adding a different tank if you wish to vape high resistance coils via MTL, as the software inside would recognise the lower coil resistance and adjust.
But approach that with caution, as you cannot alter the power.
While the tank does produce great flavour and cloud production, the tank is a little loud, as we’ve seen from previous Smok Sub-Ohm tanks.
As a side note, while there is no battery indicator, it’s pretty clear with this mod (and most for that matter) that when the flavour starts to wane, swap the battery for a fresh one and change the coil if needed.



Can You Change The Coils Manually?

Yes, you have a range of coils to pick from made with a single or dual mesh design from the A1 & A2 collection thanks to Smok, both offering decent flavour and generous cloud production inside the TFV Mini V2 tank, which also works with other mods such as the Smok R-Kiss 2.

To take the coil out of the base of the tank, just hold the top of the tank near the drip tip, turn the protective glass half a turn clockwise then turn the base counter clockwise to remove that.
Next, hold the base, turn the coil clockwise a few turns to release it from the base.

Remember to also prime the coil first, soaking into the mesh wick before placing the coil back into the tank. Filling liquid is also a breeze with a slide fill method at the top of the tank, which is released when you click a button at the top of the tank to open up the port, with a large curved hole to add your e-liquid.



Design And Functionality Explained

Ergonomically shaped to easily grasp while vaping on the go, the Mag V8, also known as the M270, stands out in a crowd because of the design. It’s not your common mod shape – let’s put it that way! While most mods are traditionally chunky, and either shaped in a boxed or slightly curved manner, the V8 is completely different.

Available in an array of vibrant colours, it’s your back to basics mod we’ve seen a few years back, with no settings to change whatsoever. Taking the complications out of vaping, there is no screen to test your vaping navigational skills. Simply twist the airflow and find the experience that matches your Sub-Ohm preference. It’s five clicks to turn on the device and another five to lock it.
The battery door pops out with ease once you press the small silver button on the side of the mod.

It has a protective battery adaptor casing, which is designed to accommodate popular 18650 batteries (with a slight rattle because they’re smaller), or larger 21700 and 20700 batteries if you want greater longevity when you Sub-Ohm vape thick high VG clouds.

Put the negative side of the battery down into the case and then that clicks back into place inside the mod. The top of the tank with the 510 connection is quite wide too, so there is plenty of room for the tank to sit flush on the top of the mod and not overhang.



Verdict

For the price of this kit, you can’t go wrong if you’re looking to try out vaping mods as an upgrade from a pod system. You get the mod, a new tank and a couple of coils for just over £20, which is a serious bargain. Cheap and cheerful, the overall appeal is all about the design, even if it’s similar to previous mods from the Smok Mag collection. If you like a semi mech mod without a screen, a curved grip that fits comfortably in the hand and plenty of smooth flavoured clouds when you vape, this Mag V8 could be a good option for minimal fuss Sub-Ohm vaping.
